Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Partially Loses Water Access

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and the city of Enerhodar have partially lost water supply due to shelling in Enerhodar and its surroundings, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Water for cooling reactors and other critical needs continues to be supplied from underground wells. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that reliable access to essential services and resources is crucial for the well-being of staff and the continuity of their vital work.

The agency's observer team, permanently stationed at ZNPP, has also been affected, having only limited access to water supply since July 18.

Furthermore, last week, after a meeting with Russian occupiers regarding emergency preparedness and response, IAEA staff were not permitted to visit the off-site emergency management center due to "security considerations."
