China needs natural gas, Uzbekistan is ready to provide it

Uzbekneftegaz and China's Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited discussed joint natural gas projects and long-term cooperation, Trend reported.
The statement followed a meeting between Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Abdugani Sanginov and Zhang Jiajhen, chairman of the Board of Directors of Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited, known as TAPLine. The meeting also highlighted continued cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and China National Petroleum Corporation.
The sides described TAPLine as a reliable, long-term partner within the Asia Trans Gas joint venture, which plays a role in cooperation in gas transportation. They discussed the composition of the venture's supervisory board and aligning its internal regulations with current legislation.
The parties also considered an initiative to develop Asia Trans Gas as a “first-class company” and ways to improve coordination between shareholders. They exchanged views on profit distribution and other issues linked to the joint venture's operations.
“Taking into account the current priorities, it is necessary to conduct an additional in-depth assessment of the economic efficiency, costs and implementation timelines of individual initiatives,” Sanginov said.
Sanginov emphasized the need to assess the commercial and operational implications of proposed initiatives before moving forward. The sides said they were ready to strengthen their partnership and continue talks on improving Asia Trans Gas efficiency and implementing mutually beneficial projects.
