Russian man who killed three people in Montenegro shoots himself

Police stated that Shabunin had visited the Ceska Zbrojevka shooting range in Danilovgrad a few days before the killings. "He conducted a practice shoot at the range, entered the building, and committed the killings," Scepanovic said. "Afterwards, he drove away in a vehicle belonging to one of the victims."

Police found the vehicle allegedly used to flee the crime scene in Rogami, near Podgorica. Investigators believe Shabunin then traveled by taxi from Podgorica toward Herceg Novi. The man took a firearm and ammunition with him after the killings.

The Ceska Zbrojevka shooting club told the broadcaster RTCG that the three victims were employees of the club and were at work unarmed, with no way to defend themselves. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive. The police, in cooperation with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident, including the cause and motive. Prime Minister Milojko Spajic expressed his condolences to the victims' relatives and said that September 1 and 2 would be declared days of mourning in Montenegro.
