Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov claims to know nothing about a US deal offer

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said he was unaware of any signals from the US regarding business deals with Russia before the end of the conflict in Ukraine, Kommersant reported.
Ryabkov was commenting on an article in The New York Times, which suggested that Washington wants to use such deals to encourage Moscow to achieve peace. According to Ryabkov, Russia has so far heard the opposite position.
“I know nothing about signals of this kind, and it would be strange to receive them, because until now we have heard exactly the opposite disposition, namely: ‘let’s reach an agreement on Ukraine and move forward, and everything else later,’” Ryabkov said, according to RIA Novosti. He noted that this also applies to economic projects.
US authorities have previously emphasized that they will not enter into deals with Russia before the end of the conflict in Ukraine. According to sources for The New York Times, the US has begun looking for new approaches to the Kremlin to persuade it to end hostilities. Potential proposals include business deals, though the newspaper did not disclose their contents.
In April 2025, the White House described an economic partnership with Russia as a possible incentive to end the conflict, but linked it to a prior ceasefire. The same approach also envisioned easing restrictions imposed on Russia after a ceasefire.
