President Trump reportedly switched planes due to security concerns

reede, 10. juuli 2026

Donald Trump's unexpected decision to return part of the way home from the NATO summit in Turkey on the old Air Force One — not the $400 million plane gifted by Qatar — raised security questions, NPR and AP reported. Trump said he flew on the old plane for nostalgic reasons and denied Iranian security risks were the cause.

“I’m always a target. I’m number one on their list,” Trump said, referring to Iran.

White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said the new plane is state-of-the-art and that the administration uses “every tool available, including distraction and misdirection, to address those threats.”

NPR noted that the plane gifted by Qatar is missing some missile detection and countermeasure systems.
