Ukraine Sinks Russian Cargo Ship in Black Sea

Drones attacked the cargo ship Yanina, owned by FESCO, part of Rosatom, in the Black Sea 130 nautical miles from Novorossiysk, and the vessel later sank, Ekonomichna Pravda reported.

Rosatom head Alexey Likhachov said the vessel was in international waters. He claimed it was carrying civilian cargo, including frozen products, construction materials and finishing materials.

The entire crew left the ship after it began to sink, according to the report. The civilian vessel Delphinus, commanded by an Egyptian citizen, picked up 16 sailors, while one more sailor was later evacuated by naval aviation of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.

Ekonomichna Pravda said FESCO is a Russian transport and logistics company under sanctions from Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
