LISTEN: Boy George Releases Pro-Israel Gaza War Song

Boy George released a new song, We Will Dance Again, on X and Instagram, voicing support for Israel’s military action in Palestine and criticizing pro-Palestinian voices, The Guardian reported.

The post included the Hebrew title “עוד נרקוד” alongside the English translation. The song, described as having a pop-reggae backing, opens: “You say genocide, I say war / When you’re attacked, that’s what the army’s for / Does it get ugly? You bet it does / When I know you wanna kill every last one of us.”

Boy George cites the Hamas attack at the Nova music festival in October 2023, saying civilians there were “murder[ed] … for the crime of dancing.” The Guardian reported that 344 civilians and 34 security personnel were killed in that attack and 44 people were taken hostage; it also said the overall Palestinian death toll since the war began is more than 73,000.

The title phrase has been used by Israelis to express hope and solidarity after the 7 October attack and was also the title of a documentary about it. In the chorus, Boy George sings: “There will be no war / But if you’re ever confused / I stand with the Jews / I don’t feel brave, I just need to behave like a human.”

The song also criticizes the pro-Palestinian movement, including musicians who have condemned Israel. “You condemn the Jews, with selective memory / Musicians holding flags, mouthing like sheep / Propaganda fuelled by the internet feels so weak,” he sings; The Guardian named Stormzy, Damon Albarn, Clairo and Brian Eno among musicians who have supported Palestine.

Boy George, who is not Jewish, told the Telegraph his support for Jewish people was personal and said he also had compassion for Palestinians and did not necessarily agree with what was happening in Israel. His description of Israel’s actions as war rather than genocide runs counter to a 2025 United Nations inquiry that said Israel had committed genocide in Gaza; Israel’s foreign ministry called that report “distorted and false,” and Israel called a later independent UN inquiry a “libellous sham.”
