Tom Homan Blames "Hateful Rhetoric" for Potential ICE Deaths

Tom Homan, President Trump’s former “border czar,” attributes potential deaths of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to “hateful rhetoric” against the agency. Speaking to reporters outside the White House on Monday, Homan stated, “if the hateful rhetoric doesn’t stop, there will be bloodshed. And unfortunately I was right. And I’ll tell you something else: It’s not over yet.”

He accused critics of attacking and “miscommunicating what ICE does every day,” and questioned comparisons of ICE to the Nazi regime, claiming such words embolden people to “do something stupid.”

Homan expressed fear of burying an ICE agent and handing a folded flag to an agent's spouse or child “for simply doing his job.” He criticized members of Congress who attack ICE and call them fascists and Nazis, arguing that if “Nazis enforcing the laws,” then those who wrote the law are also implicated.

Meanwhile, ICE has been involved in the deaths of U.S. citizens, such as Alex Pretti and Renee Good in Minnesota, and immigrants with legal status who were not targets for immigration violations, like Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Maine. Homan appears indifferent to these deaths, prioritizing the hypothetical death of an ICE agent (which has not occurred in Trump’s second term) over the deaths of innocent individuals.
