Court orders Russia to pay 486 million hryvnias to Ukrainian oil producer

The Commercial Court of Odesa Oblast has ruled to recover 486 million UAH in damages from the Russian Federation in favor of the Ukrainian oil producer LLC "Ekobiotek-Ukraine." This decision, dated June 24, compensates the company for losses incurred.

LLC "Ekobiotek-Ukraina" is a plant registered in Kherson that produces refined and deodorized oil from natural raw materials. The company lost its ability to conduct business operations at its production facilities due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation and the occupation of the Kherson region.

According to the court's decision, in 2022, individuals in civilian clothes, accompanied by a large number of Russian military personnel, removed finished products (containers with oil, etc.) from the warehouse, using both their own vehicles and transport located on the company's premises. After the de-occupation of Kherson and the restoration of access to the enterprise, it was found that due to the presence of Russian military personnel, property, including goods and materials, had been completely looted and destroyed.

Experts concluded that the total value of the damage inflicted by the Russian Federation on "Ekobiotek-Ukraine" amounts to 486 million UAH. Judge Maryna Sulimovska decided to recover this sum of property damage from the Russian Federation, represented by its Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defense, Federal Treasury, Central Bank, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in favor of LLC "Ekobiotek-Ukraine."
