Trump says US, Israel to hold off on Iran strikes
President Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States and Israel had agreed to hold off on new strikes on Iran -- provided that a deal to end the months-long conflict is reached rapidly. Fears had been mounting that the fighting could escalate once again after Trump threatened to hit Iran "very hard" and was reportedly considering renewed heavy attacks, including against energy infrastructure.

OPEC+ boosts September production by 188,000 barrels/day
Saudi Arabia, Russia and five other key members of OPEC+ agreed in an online meeting Sunday to boost oil production by 188,000 barrels a day from September, against a backdrop of disruption caused by the Mideast war. "The seven participating countries decided to implement a production adjustment of 188 thousand barrels per day," they said in a joint statement. The increase, decided by the key countries in the enlarged Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, was widely expected by analysts.

Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said on Sunday that there was no deal to halt attacks on Gaza and that he saw a need for Israel, which already controls 70% of the Strip, to take full control of it.

Gaza officials say Israeli strikes kill seven day after deal
Gaza authorities said that seven people were killed in Israeli strikes Saturday that also damaged a hospital's medical supplies, a day after Hamas said it agreed to the latest stage of a deal to end the war. The Israeli military for its part said it had struck Hamas weapons depots as Israel insists on verifying that the group behind the October 7, 2023 attacks is disarmed.

Gaza's civil defence agency and medical sources said Israeli strikes in the Palestinian territory on Saturday killed two people and significantly damaged a hospital's medical supply warehouses. The Israeli military said, meanwhile, that it had struck five Hamas weapons depots in the Gaza Strip. The strikes come a day after Hamas said it had agreed to a deal to end the war with Israel that includes provisions for handing over its weapons and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
